Friedmund darf ich nicht heissen

Ein starkes Jagen auf uns

Ein trauriges Kind

Ein Schwert verhiess mir der Vater

Dame Kiri and Friends -- The Gala Concert SPECIAL PRICE FOR A LIMITED TIME

DAME KIRI AND FRIENDS

On February 28, 2004, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa gave an historic gala concert at The Aotea Centre to launch the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation, a cause truly close to her heart that she has created with the stated mission of providing financial and career support for talented young New Zealand singers and musicians at the start of their careers. She was accompanied by the Auckland Philharmonia & she invited some of her NZ's friends to come & share into this world-class occasion - including Dame Malvina Major, Simon O'Neill & Helen Medlyn.

Britten - Sinfonietta; Holst - Savitri; Vaughan- Williams - Lark Ascending

SAVITRI

This all English album is a wonderful mix of the known and little known. Gustav Holst's opera in one act "Savitri" is based on an episode from the Indian classic Mahabharta. Holst created this work as a result of an almost obsessive fascination with spiritualism and Asian culture that swept through Europe prior to World War I.

Farr: Te Papa

TE PAPA - Gareth Farr

“We now live in a unique multi-cultural society. Our many and varied contemporary art forms reflect this fact, and display something that could only be created here. This piece is a recognition of the similarities and differences of all of the cultures of New Zealand. It is a musical analogy to my ideal that cultures can co-exist without overshadowing or changing one another. And finally, it is a musical celebration that we all have ended up here on the same soil.”
